Anne-Marie Jacobs graduated with an MA in Sculptural Practice at Colchester School of Art where she also completed her BA in 3D Art, Design and Craft in 2014.
Originally from Surrey, which is so full of hills and woods that you rarely see the sky, the flat Essex marshland made a big impression on Anne-Marie and she’s been making art in response to it ever since. She started working in ceramics in 2012 and her work is developed from her own aerial photographs of the Island and the surrounding marshland. She then uses line, colour and form from these digital images to abstract a sense of being in, on or over the landscape to make her ceramic pieces. The work is always sculptural, and sometimes takes the form of vessels.
